The mobile phone giant said yesterday that it had sold over 5 million of its N-series phones since their introduction last year. The feature-rich N-series have been very popular among multimedia-conscious users.
The market for multimedia phones is expected to grow from 50 million units sold last year to 100 million this year and to top 250 million by 2008 said a company official in Germany at the launch of the three new N-series phones. The three phones; N72, N73 and N93 are expected to hit the market during June and July and thus further increase Nokia’s clout in the multimedia phone arena.
Notably, the N70 phone has been the best-selling 3G handset in the world and biggest revenue-generating handset for the company during the first quarter of this year. Not only that, but according to Nokia, the N70 makes about 10% of the entire 3G market. Hats off to Nokia!
