From the 1st of July, Vodafone will launch a new UK offer, ‘Free Weekends’, giving Pay As You Talk users unlimited free calls and texts all weekend for life.
Free Weekends is available as an option to new and existing users on all Smartplus and Smartstep Pay As You Talk price plans. To qualify for Free Weekend calls and text you must have spent £5 during that week, or £2.50 to qualify for Free Weekend texts only. Spend includes making calls, texts, browsing & downloads, depending on what you qualified for that week. Calls can be made to any UK network or landline.
Users will receive a text message when they have reached the £2.50 or £5 limit to indicate that they will get free calls & texts at the weekend. They can also check their balance via their mobile or on the web. The weekend will start from Friday at 7:30PM to Monday at 00:00AM.
The offer can also be combined with other Pay as You Talk offers including Stop the Clock, Vodafone Passport and promotions including 10% off top-ups.
Research has indicated that ‘Free Weekends’ is the most popular of all pre-pay offers because of its simplicity and effectiveness from a user perspective.
Tim Yates, Director of Vodafone’s Consumer Business Unit, says:
[Vodafone is] the first mobile network to reward its customers on a weekly rather than a monthly basis which fits with the profile of Pay As You Talk customers, who traditionally tend to budget week-by-week. Too often promotions offered don’t reflect how people actually use their phones, but Vodafone has taken this into account when designing this offer.
Free Weekends follows other recent value initiatives for Vodafone customers including Vodafone Stop The Clock where customers pay for just three minutes but can talk for up to an hour.
