BlackBerry 8707vVodafone announced yesterday that it has made available the BlackBerry® 8707v™ for business and leisure users in Ireland. The introduction of the device will allow office productivity on the move by taking advantage of Vodafone’s high speed UMTS network.

The BlackBerry 8707v supports 2100 MHz UMTS and GPRS/GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) networks, which makes it usable anywhere in the world, including Japan and Korea. Key features of the BlackBerry 8707v include complete e-mail, telephony, SMS, browser, organiser, corporate data applications, and of course, a QWERTY keypad. It can also be used as a wireless UMTS modem for high-speed Internet or Intranet access via laptop. The built-in speakerphone makes it ideal for hands-free working, and the device can also be connected to a wireless headset or car kit via Bluetooth™.

The all-in-one device also integrates attachment viewing that supports popular text and image file formats such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Corel, WordPerfect, Adobe PDF, as well as JPEG, BMP and TIFF image file formats.

For corporate customers, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server™ software tightly integrates with Microsoft Exchange®, IBM® Lotus Domino® and Novell® GroupWise®and works with existing enterprise systems to enable secure, push-based wireless access to email and other corporate data.

The BlackBerry 8707v costs €269.50 in connection with a minimum 24-month term contract, a one-off connection charge of €25, a monthly package price of €25 and low connection rates (e.g. standard domestic calls cost up to €0.50/min.). Without a contract, the device costs €699.90.
